Aikido Class
It has been a long time since I have been able to take a martial art. My college has always offered a few classes but nothing I was really interested in. This semester they offered Aikido so I jumped on board. I talked my brother into it, it didn’t take much prodding he was just as enthusiastic as I was. Today was the first class and I must say I was impressed. Actually, I didn’t know what to expect exactly but from the looks of things I will get a lot out of this class.
In the past I have taken various classes here and there along with some formal training. It has been awhile since an art really interested me. I studied Tai-Chi on my own from books. I did look for instructors but the classes were extremely expensive. A few years ago I was impressed by Aikido and looked around the Phoenix Metro area for some dojos, but again the prices were too high. The Sensei of this class at my college also teaches at a dojo in town and I was excited to learn I could afford the classes! Now I need to round up some money for the proper attire and try to work this into my schedule.
The class today was informative. I learned again the importance of relaxing instead resisting. The class was led through a simple demonstration of the power of not fighting. Once I get my camera working I will have to demonstrate. So stay tuned for updates on Aikido!
