I read yet another article about the stripping of rights in the name of security. We all have heard, or should have heard the quote:
“Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.” – Benjamin Franklin
And yet everyday it seems there is another article about this exchange going on in our government and no one seems to care. This time this article at slashdot cites this article about how your property can now be seized for any ‘secret’ reason as long as they declare you a terrorist. My broad understanding is now this, you can be arrested and thrown awhile for life with no contact with anyone along with your property etc etc as long as someone deems you a terrorist. A terrorist can have a pretty broad definition as well it seems. So this gets me to thinking:
