If you haven’t yet heard of the $100 Laptop then you must be hiding under a rock. A man by the name of Nicholas Negroponte started an initiative to provide every child with “a flexible, ultra low-cost, power-efficient, responsive, and durable machine with which nations of the emerging world can leapfrog decades of development—immediately transforming the content and quality of their children’s learning”
 The specs are fairly impressive considering the cost. As of right now there are no plans to sell this to the public as OLPC states it is only taking orders from Governments. As of this writing, it is unknown if the US government plans on kick starting our own Educational system with an infusion of these fine machines. However there is a pledge that you can sign, swearing that you will pay $300 for one if you knew that 2 of the OLPC machines were provided to children in need. You can sign it here
